The City's annual Veterans Day celebration on Thursday, November 11, will include live filming of the commemorative ceremony featuring Chaplain Nick Lewis and Bugler George Moffat airing live on the City's Facebook page beginning at 9:00 A.M.
A Meet & Greet Event will occur in Starbucks lower plaza at 15517 Main Street following the online ceremony. Veterans are invited to attend from 10:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. and enjoy complimentary coffee and donuts provided by Starbucks and Town & Country Market. In addition, all are invited to appreciate a display of military memorabilia and artwork by area students.
Mill Creek resident and dedicated Police Citizens Academy volunteer Barbara Heidel collaborated with area students and local organizations to provide the artwork.
Military memorabilia on display will pay tribute to the service of all U.S. military veterans. Items include a battlefield cross (boots, rifle, helmet, and dog tags) and a floral wreath. Also, staff and community members have donated military uniforms for on-site viewing during the event.
Additionally, the City will honor local veterans by hosting a virtual slideshow, available for public viewing on the City website throughout November. To participate, please submit a short biography using this "
Virtual Slideshow" form before November 9 at noon.
