Each year on Memorial Day, the City of Mill Creek pays respect to those who gave their life in service of our country. This year, the City is expanding the Memorial Day Reverse Parade to incorporate Memorial Boards which remember and recognize local military members from the community. The Boards will be displayed in the windows of local businesses and at the City’s Reverse Parade for the community to read the stories about those who served. In order to take time to remember the sacrifices made by our military members, the Boards will become part of the regular display items in future Memorial and Veterans Day parades.
The Reverse Parade will take place Monday, May 31 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Main Street between 155th Street (the Cold Stone Creamery) and 153rd Street (the corner of the former University Bookstore). The display of military memorabilia will be available for public viewing while spectators drive by and observe the display. A list of businesses displaying the Memorial Boards will be provided prior to Memorial Day.
The Memorial Boards illustrate the rich history of our country’s service men and women. The Board is an opportunity for loved ones to share the pride and patriotism of the service member.
Examples of a Memorial Board and submission form can be found at www.cityofmillcreek.com/memorialboard. The Memorial Board information should be provided by May 7, 2021.
