Mill Creek City Council will recognize Great Garden Award recipients at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 28, during a virtual presentation 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
The Art & Beautification (A&B) Board, currently chaired by Mill Creek resident Guy Armfield, tours Mill Creek gardens each year and nominates residents who have put considerable time, effort, and creativity into beautifying their property. The board then meets to review all nominees and selects 12 to receive a Great Garden Award.
"What I love about the great gardens of Mill Creek is their ability to shape a community, turning strangers into neighbors. I love how the design of a landscape can make people feel inspired and how a garden can be functional and beautiful at the same time, helping citizens feel captivated instead of detached," said Armfield.
The A&B Board met on July 14 to select this year's award recipients and met again on Aug. 11 to deliver award letters and temporary yard signs to each home. Recipients will exchange their yard sign for a smaller, permanent keepsake during the first week in October at City Hall North.
