Posted on 02/22/2019
Notice General The City of Mill Creek seeks volunteers with a background or interest in landscaping, recreation, interlocal agreements or other similar interests to fill a vacancy on the Parks and Recreation Board. This is a mid-term appointment expiring on Oct. 31, 2020. Full terms are three years.

The Park and Recreation Board is an advisory board that focuses on matters of design, development, procedures and proposing projects for all City-owned parks. Board members recommend the annual budget for the acquisition, development, and operation of park and recreation facilities and programs.

“Our Park and Recreation Board is really a great way to leave your mark on the community,” said Jay Sandstrom, recreation coordinator. “Members actually go through every park in the City annually and make recommendations for improvements to facilities and amenities. They also are involved in advising the City Council on recreational policies and park design.”

Board members should have an interest or professional experience in landscaping, land acquisition, or recreation, and must be residents or own/operate a business in the City. Park and Recreation Board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall South, 15728 Main St.

Those interested in serving on the board may submit their name for consideration by close of business on Monday, March 18. Submissions may be received online at www.cityofmillcreek.com/boardapplication or via letter of interest to Attention: Gina Pfister, Acting City Clerk, 15728 Main Street, Mill Creek, WA 98012.
