The City now offers a daily walk-up option for passport services. These services were previously by appointment only due to COVID-19 restrictions; however, the City has adopted the innovative NextME app and QR codes to make walk-up services available while still adhering to safety protocols. In addition to social distancing, visitors to City Hall must wear masks inside all buildings, and temperature checks are required upon entry, regardless of vaccination status.

“The customer service team is excited to offer daily appointments along with a walk-up option which will allow us to meet continuing needs of our passport customers,” said Jodie Gunderson, Administrative Supervisor.

Remember, if you are planning to travel for the holidays, apply early! According to the U.S. Department of State, routine passport service can take up to 18 weeks. With only 14 weeks until Christmas, this could be a problem for those hoping to travel outside of the United States. One option is to expedite service by paying an additional $60.00; however, it can still take up to 12 weeks to receive your passport from the day an application is submitted.

For walk-up service:

  • Go to Mill Creek City Hall South at 15728 Main Street.
  • Locate the passport sign kiosk near the front doors.
  • Scan the QR with your smartphone.
  • Receive a text notification that you are in the queue.

This text option allows patrons to communicate with staff while waiting in their cars or to use the time to grab a quick coffee in Mill Creek Town Center or visit nearby shops before being alerted when passport staff is available to serve you.

Before heading to City Hall, go to cityofmillcreek.com/passports to verify you have the appropriate documents in hand, including:

  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship
  • Valid Photo ID
  • Form DS-11 or other forms as needed
  • Check or Money Order

Prior to the pandemic, visitors would wait in the lobby or outside when passport lines were long, sometimes for hours. Now, you can either make an appointment in advance by visiting Mill Creek's online passport portal or use the new walk-up service to reduce your wait time. Also, there is a mail-in option for adult passport renewals, if the previous passport was valid for ten years. Please check our website for details cityofmillcreek.com/passports.
