Beals, a senior at Glacier Peak High School and a resident of the SpringTree neighborhood, will receive a $500 scholarship from the City for being selected as the nominee for the state competition where a $1,000 scholarship prize is up for grabs.

Beals hopes to become a leader of a non-profit organization or a minister like his parents, Brandon and Diana Beals, who are pastors at Mill Creek’s Canyon Creek Church. His high school career is filled with a passion for service to people and he hopes to build a life around that passion.

“This community has taught me the importance of academics and preparing for your future career,” said Beals. “The Mill Creek community has contributed to my growth as a person. It has taught me the importance of loving those around you and I am grateful that the City has chosen to nominate me to represent our amazing community.”

The AWC Scholarship winners will be notified in May of 2019. Students applying for this scholarship must be involved with city government, community and/or school leadership. They must graduate from high school in 2019, live within the City of Mill Creek, and plan to attend an accredited college or trade school for the 2019-2020 academic year.
