WiFi AUP

Welcome to the City of Mill Creek Public WiFi service. By connecting to the City of Mill Creek Public WiFi service you agree to the following terms:

1) The City of Mill Creek Public WiFi is provided as complimentary service on an "as is" basis with no guarantee and no warranty. The City of Mill Creek WiFi is only for use while in the City of Mill Creek City Hall Building.

2) Information passing through the City of Mill Creek Public WiFi network is not secured. Potentially any information being sent or received could be intercepted by another wireless user. It is the sole responsibility of the user to protect their information from all risks associated with using the internet, including any damage, loss, or theft that may occur as a result of use of the City of Mill Creek WiFi service. Please take appropriate precautions.

3) City of Mill Creek staff is not able to provide technical assistance and assumes no responsibility for laptop and device configurations, security or changes to data files.

4) Basic internet security filtering is used for protection from websites with spyware, phishing, keylogging, malicious code, etc. However, your device and data may still be exposed to risks. Limited content filtering is used to block access to sites with illegal content. However, other objectionable content may be viewed, so parents and/or guardians, not the City of Mill Creek or its staff, are responsible for the internet information selected and/or accessed by their children.

5) Prior to using the City of Mill Creek WiFi service, you must agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the City of Mill Creek, its officers and employees, and any affiliate, from any damage that may result from your use of this service.

6) Prior to using the City of Mill Creek WiFi service, you must acknowledge that you are subject to, and agree to abide by all laws, and all rules and regulations of the City of Mill Creek, the State of Washington, and the federal government that are applicable to Internet use.
Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to:

a) Spamming and invasion of privacy - Sending of unsolicited bulk and/or commercial messages over the internet using the Service or using the Service for activities that invade another's' privacy.

b) Intellectual property right violations - Engaging in any activity that infringes or misappropriates the intellectual property rights of others, including, but not limited to, patents, copyrights, trademarks, service marks, trade secrets, or any other proprietary right of any third party.

c) Obscene or indecent speech or materials - Using the City of Mill Creek WiFi service to advertise, solicit, transmit, store, post, display, or otherwise make available obscene or indecent images or other materials.

d) Defamatory or abusive language - Using the City of Mill Creek WiFi service to transmit, post, upload, or otherwise making available defamatory, harassing, abusive, or threatening material or language that encourages bodily harm, destruction of property or harasses another.

e) Forging of headers - Forging or misrepresenting message headers, whether in whole or in part, to mask the originator of the message.

f) Hacking - Accessing illegally, or without authorization, computers, accounts, equipment or networks belonging to another party, or attempting to penetrate security measures of another system. This includes any activity that may be used as a precursor to an attempted system penetration, including, but not limited to, port scans, stealth scans, or other information gathering activity.

g) Distribution of internet viruses, malware, or other destructive activities - Distributing information regarding the creation of and sending internet viruses, worms, Trojan Horses, pinging, flooding, mail-bombing, or denial of service attacks or like matters. Also, activities that disrupt the use of or interfere with the ability of others to effectively use the City of Mill Creek WiFi service.

h) Illegal Activities - Using the City of Mill Creek WiFi service in violation of applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, advertising, transmitting, or otherwise making available Ponzi schemes, pyramid schemes, stealing credit card numbers, pirating software, or making fraudulent offers to sell or buy products, items or services.

7) Your access to the City of Mill Creek wireless access points may be blocked, suspended, or terminated at any time for any reason. At its sole discretion, the City of Mill Creek may terminate this WiFi service at any time without prior notice.
