City of Mill Creek Announces Events Through December 2017

The City of Mill Creek will host or support the following events through December 2017.

Run With Heart Event: 8K, 5K, 1K, and Kids Dash
Sept. 16
7:30-11 a.m.
McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett
Supporting the Ironheart Foundation and Colton’s Army, this event has something for the whole family. Specific events include an 8K run/walk, a 5K run/walk, a kids’ 1K and a Toddler Dash. Registration includes a T-shirt with registration by Aug. 25, finisher’s medal and a race bag; T-shirts are available for purchase day of event for $15 each. Map Your Neighborhood

6:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
City Hall Council Chambers, 15728 Main St., Mill Creek
If the ‘Big One’ struck five minutes from now, would you, your loved ones, and your pets survive? How would you or your children get home if you’re not there? If you’re hurt, who would help? These questions and more will be answered at this free Map Your Neighborhood workshop. This free workshop will also provide Mill Creek residents and people from surrounding area neighborhoods with other survival tips about how pulling together as a neighborhood can save lives when disaster strikes. Trunk or Treat
Oct. 31

City Hall North, 15720 Main St., Mill Creek
The City of Mill Creek will co-sponsor with Canyon Creek Church members to host the annual Trunk or Treat event featuring a parking lot full of cars whose trunks will be decorated and filled with candy and goodies. Children go from car to car “trunk-or-treating” in the City Hall North parking lot. This event provides a safe environment for children and their families who wish to trick-or-treat. It’s a great community event for parents to enjoy a little social time, while keeping an eye on their trick-or-treaters. Children ages 12 and under are invited to join the fun! Veterans Day Commemorative Ceremony

Veterans Monument at Library Park, 15429 Bothell-Everett Hwy, Mill Creek
Join the Mill Creek community to honor those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The Veterans Monument includes a courtyard of pavers surrounding a flagpole centerpiece with six basalt columns engraved with the names of men and women who served in the armed forces of this country. Native plantings in reds, whites, and blues to enhance the natural beauty of the site and monument. The ceremony includes opening remarks from Mayor Pam Pruitt, Mill Creek Police Chaplain Nick Lewis, Color Guard and Mill Creek Police Veterans raising the flag, laying of a wreath and the Mill Creek Chorale singing. Mill Creek Veterans Day Parade

Main Street in Mill Creek Town Center
Bring the whole family to this parade honoring those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The parade meanders down Mill Creek’s Main Street from LA Fitness to City Hall (15024 Main St. to 15720 Main St.). The event features floats, bands, drill teams, equestrian teams, kids groups, and other dancers, cars and parading attractions. Bring a chair and arrive along the parade route early. Mill Creek Tree Lighting
Dec. 2

Mill Creek City Hall, 15728 Main St., Mill Creek
Join the Mill Creek community for the annual tree lighting at City Hall. A few highlights from the event include performances by Jackson High School drum line, Voices Northwest Chorus, cookie decorating, carriage and wagon rides, and photos with Santa and his elves.
