Community Recommendations Sought for Park Name in North Pointe Neighborhood

An rendering of the design for the park in North Pointe
The City of Mill Creek is seeking name recommendations from the community for the park located in the North Pointe neighborhood.

The City’s Parks and Recreation Board previously suggested two names, Penny Creek Park or Beaver Pond Park. However, at the June 27 City Council meeting, the Council noted that the names don’t have a physical representation in this particular neighborhood park.

“This has been a community park project, and it’s only fitting that the people who use it can help us select a name for it,” said Joni Kirk, director of Communications and Marketing. “We’re seeking a name that clearly identifies this park and honors its location within the City.”

The name suggestions should be submitted online at www.cityofmillcreek.com/suggestion by July 28. The Parks and Recreation Board will review the recommendations at the August 2 meeting to narrow down the list for discussion at an upcoming City Council meeting.

This neighborhood park has benefitted from broad public input. Several hundred citizens provided public input on the park’s design concept alternatives in 2016. The clear public preference was the Natural Play Park concept, which City Council formally adopted at their September 27, 2016, regular meeting. The design work is complete, and the City is now reviewing cost estimates and funding options for the work.
