Minor to be Charged After Collision with Pole in Mill Creek

A 17-year-old male will be charged with a minor in possession after a collision this morning in Mill Creek.

The driver was headed southbound on SR 527 at the 17400 SE block in Mill Creek when he swerved and hit a power pole, which resulted in downed power lines and light poles across the roadway.

The driver reported to Mill Creek police that he had swerved to avoid “three bunnies.” Upon further investigation, the police noticed the smell of alcohol in the car and found open containers of alcohol.

The driver was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett with a knee injury.

Another driver that was headed northbound on SR 527 ran over the downed power lines, which wrapped around and destroyed his tire. No other incidents were reported.

Snohomish County PUD quickly responded and turned off power in the area so the lines could be removed from the roadway. Repair work is expected to occur soon and may result in minor traffic impacts.
